Luton Town will travel down to Loftus Road as we begin our 2024/25 Carabao Cup campaign away at Queens Park Rangers.
Rob Edwards’ side looks to progress into the third round of the cup with a win over a fellow Championship side.
Words from the boss
Speaking after the game at Preston on Saturday, Rob Edwards said: “We will give some minutes to players, we’ll have to. With the games so quick, the turnaround between Tuesday and Friday – and even from today to Tuesday – it’s a quick turnaround, and with the number of injuries that we’ve had, we’ve got to make sure we get that selection right.
“It’ll be a chance to give a few people a game to get minutes and get them up to speed, to look after a couple as well that we don’t want to break. We’ve just got Amari’i back and one or two others, and we want to make sure that we get that right.
“So there will certainly be changes on Tuesday, but the group is strong enough to make sure that we are very competitive in that game as well and give us the best chance going into Friday.”
The opposition
QPR currently sit 19th in the Championship table following a loss at home to West Brom and back-to-back draws to Sheffield United and Plymouth Argyle.
The R’s failed to make it past the first round of this competition last year losing to Norwich City at home.
Micheal Frey will be one to watch out for with him scoring an early goal in their 1-1 draw against Plymouth at the weekend.
Last time we met
The last time these two sides met in December 2022, the Hatters ran out 3-0 winners at Loftus Road, winning our first league game at QPR since 1984.
A brace from Carlton Morris and a fantastic Alfie Doughty half-volley gifted us our second victory under Edwards.
The officials
The referee for our Carabao Cup trip to Loftus Road will be Leigh Doughty.
He previously refereed us in the Championship in April 2023 in our 2-0 away win at Rotherham United.
