And you know he’s right – after all, he was in among the Hatters fans for our Premier League opener last month.

“I’m a Brighton fan, but I went to Brighton in the Luton end and that was like the switch ‘wow, I’m Luton here’.

“I think club has touched me that much. It’s going to be part of my life forward as well as it has been for the past seven-and-half years.”

After 207 appearances and eight goals, Rea’s time at Kenilworth Road has come to an emotional end with his contract ended by mutual consent last week.

In our final interview with the 29-year-old, he looks back on his career with the Hatters, touching on:

“I can’t put into words how good the last seven years have been. It’s been amazing,” he adds.

“I’m thankful for everything that’s happened in that time, the good, the bad, the ugly because it has been ugly at times.

“But I’m so grateful for every experience I’ve had. I don’t regret anything and it’s made me who I am today.”
