In a closely fought tie, Tate Xavier-Jones, Jack Lorentzen-Jones and Charlie Emery were on target for Alex Lawless' side.

There was also cup heartache for the Town Under-16s. Craig Alcock's squad travelled down to the south coast on Saturday morning as they took on AFC Bournemouth in a knockout qualifier for the Premier League National Tournament.

The game went to penalties after it had finished 2-2 after extra-time but the Cherries were the ones who progressed, winning the shootout 4-3.

Both the Hatters' Under-18s and Under-16s travel to Sutton United this coming weekend, both matches kicking off a 10.30am.
