Alan Sheehan admitted he has already learned ‘more than he could explain’ since returning to the club as first team coach.

The former captain was a popular figure during his playing days and that hasn't changed in the short time he has been back at the club – admired by fans, staff and players alike.

“I’m delighted to be back, Sheehan told the local press. “I left a couple of years ago, went out and got some vital experience. Then the opportunity came up to come back which was a no brainer for me so absolutely delighted.

“I always had the feeling I would possibly come back one day, he continued. “It’s an unbelievable opportunity for me to work hard, to graft, to try and contribute to move this club forward.”

Working alongside Nathan Jones is something that the 35-year-old was keen to do ever since exploring the avenue of coaching, adding: “I’m fortunate that he’s seen something in me that he thinks can improve the football club.

“There’s a lot of ex-players that have done exceptionally at this football club so for me to get this opportunity, I’m not going to leave any stone unturned. To work with him is unbelievable, I’ve learned more in the last two weeks than I can even explain. It’s an unbelievable environment to work in, I honestly mean that.”

Being part of Luton Town Football Club once more means that Sheehan can resume his terrific relationship with the supporters and he only had positive things to say about them in his press conference.

“They’ve always been unbelievable to me. They’re exceptional fans. That noise the other day, unless you play at a full Kenilworth Road, with the fans when it’s bouncing, I don’t think you get the feel of it. You’ve got to be there to experience it.

“For me, with the fans, I’ve had an unbelievable, great relationship. Right now, I’m happy to go into the background, go behind the scenes and do my work."

The Hatters have won both games Sheehan has been in the dugout for, a record he will look to extend ahead of tonight’s Sky Bet Championship encounter with Reading.

“Obviously the first game against Harrogate was a decent win, a 4-0 win at any time you can’t turn them down. The Bournemouth game was an exceptional performance and one that will live long in the memory for a lot of people. That winning goal was quite unbelievable to be a part of that, to be involved and the noise in the stadium, it’s something that won’t be forgotten about in a good while.”
