Yesterday it was revealed that the defender would not be part of Rob Page’s squad for the competition but this morning Wales have said that following an injury to James Lawrence, Lockyer would take his place in the squad and will join up with his international team-mates, including Joe Morrell.
The centre-back will now hope to be involved in group stage matches against Switzerland, Turkey and Italy when games get underway in just under two weeks' time.
Prior to his season-ending ankle surgery in February, Lockyer spoke to the press about the upcoming Euros and suggested that a call-up to the squad for the competition would the ‘highlight of my career’, so we are delighted for Tom that his hard work has paid off!
Everyone at Kenilworth Road would like to congratulate Tom and wish him and Joe the best of luck!
