NATHAN JONES HOPING TO HAVE ASSISTANT MANAGER IN PLACE NEXT WEEK

Town boss Nathan Jones is hoping to have a new assistant manager in place by the time the Hatters face Charlton Athletic next week.

Paul Hart departed the club just over two weeks ago for Notts County, with Jones hopefully to have his new man in place at some point next week.

He said: "We're closer to doing it, it's weird actually, there's a few things that happened that delayed the process, nothing major or anything. We want to get the right one which we are in the process of doing. It's not one for me to speak of yet, but hopefully I would like him in place by next week."

Following the injury to Eunan O'Kane on Saturday and his subsequent return to parent club Leeds United, the Hatters have a couple of players missing for this Saturday's trip to Blackpool.

O'Kane joins Marek Stech on the side-lines who is having a hernia operation, as well as Luke Berry who is recovering from knee surgery.

Jones has said the injuries do have an impact, but the reason he has good depth in his squad is for moments like this: "It does [impact], on numbers. And they're two big players for us [O'Kane and Berry]. We've had Danny out, we've got Eunan out, we've got Berry out. Marek Stech as well, you're talking Team of the Year last year.

"So they're big players for us, it's a frustrating time for us. But that's why we have the strength of squad we do, so we can cope with that.

"We're a little light on options with us letting a few go. Sometimes when things hit you, you can be exposed slightly. But we've got a fantastic squad, we've got people waiting in the wings wanting an opportunity, so it could be an opportunity for them."

Andrew Shinnie put in a Man of the Match performance in the 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers, scoring the only goal of the game to ensure the Hatters continued their unbeaten run at home this season.

The midfielder started last season brightly, but was only involved in 14 away matches in all competitions. Jones has said that the 29-year-old will be involved in the starting XI, as long as maintains the high standards he has set so far this campaign.

"He just needs to keep putting in the performances that he has," Jones continued.

"It hasn't been because we've been played away, it's when he's had a dip. We play a certain way away from home. But it's not because it's away from home that I leave Andrew Shinnie out, if he's at the levels he is at the moment, then he will play.

"It's when they have a dip. We've left Elliot out, we've left Jorge out, we've left Andrew out. So we do change certain things, for form, not because it's home or away."
