MATCH PREVIEW | BLACKPOOL V LUTON TOWN

The Town head up to Blackpool tomorrow afternoon looking to get their first away win of the Sky Bet League One campaign.

Whilst remaining unbeaten at home this season, the Hatters have picked up just one point from their first four away games, but barring a poor opening period against Peterborough United, they have been unlucky not to take more from those games.

Eunan O'Kane will be the obvious miss from the Town's squad, having returned to parent club Leeds United to begin his recovery from the serious leg break he suffered against Bristol Rovers. Nathan Jones will also be without Luke Berry and Marek Stech, who had a hernia operation yesterday.

They come up against a Blackpool side who weren't expected to start so brightly, given the departure of Gary Bowyer after just one game of the new campaign. However, Terry McPhillips has done a terrific job – his role as caretaker boss turned into him getting the job on a permanent basis. Unbeaten away from home and having only suffered one defeat at Bloomfield Road, the Seasiders find themselves sat just outside the play-off places, and this week they appointed former Town boss Gary Brabin as McPhillips' assistant.

Tickets will be available for purchase on the day at Blackpool, and with over 1,200 Town supporters heading up to Lancashire, make sure you're there to cheer on the Hatters!

Supporters who are driving up, please ensure you check your route, as J14-15 of the M6 will be closed from around 8pm, with supporters strongly advised to avoid the area altogether in the build up to that time.

THE GAFFER SAYS:

On whether our play-off defeat to Blackpool has a bearing on the game: "No not really, I don't think so. It was a learning curve for me. I have watched part of the game the other day. There were a fair few things that happened in the game, decisions from certain individuals, nothing to do with team. That happens. Those two individuals aren't at the club anymore, so we hope we won't make the same ones.

"I have got a good record up at Blackpool to be honest with you, it's a place we are looking forward to going. It'll be a tough game because they're in real good form, they're a dangerous side they really are, the manager has done fantastically well there. For us it's another game, it's cliché, we're looking to get three points and that's all we can do."

On Blackpool being one of the form teams: "It was pretty similar the year before last when we went there, we went up there and won the game. So it's good we're playing a form team because they will want to come out and win the game, [think] that they should win the game, which we kind of enjoy playing against teams that do that.

"Let's see how the game goes. We go up there in good form ourselves, it'll be an interesting one."

Certainly on the field, Blackpool seem to be back on the up, having won promotion at our expense from League Two back in the 2016/17 campaign, last year was a consolidatory season as they finished 12th in the third tier. Their decent start this year could help them on their return back up the EFL, having been in the Championship as recently as 2015.
