The U's have picked up a point from their opening two games, having drawn 1-1 with Stevenage last weekend and losing 3-1 on the opening day to Accrington Stanley.
Town on the other hand will be hoping to start a winning league run at Kenilworth Road, having beaten Yeovil Town 8-2 in their last League Two outing.
THE GAFFER SAYS:
On injuries to Scott Cuthbert and Lawson D'Ath: "They're closer, Cuthbert's slightly longer than D'Ath, D'Ath starts running tomorrow, so once he starts running and is pain free then we can really kick him on, so he's probably a week away.
"It depends with Cuthbert, we've actually had a good diagnosis, but we've just got to check with a specialist that we can start kicking him on. So it's a lot more positive than it was a week ago, but we'll just see."
On getting back to winning ways and the task of facing the U's: "We want to get back to a performance that is more us. If we do that then we have got a good chance of winning the game.
"Colchester are a very difficult side, we played them twice last season and lost both times. They were tight games, but we didn't play well in either game. One was on Boxing Day and it's kind of made me change my Christmas Day policy a little bit because of the level of performance we had.
"We went away and it was probably the worst performance of the season in the first half. Second half we were excellent, but we were already 2-0 behind. It was poor, poor performances against them and we are looking to put that right."
WHO?
The Essex based side looked as if they had made the Sky Bet League Two play-offs on the final day of the regular league season last term, only to be knocked out of the top seven very late on. Now in their second consecutive season in the fourth tier, there is a lot of expectation around the U's to be challenging for those top spots and with the calibre of player at their disposal, it comes as little surprise.
WHEN AND WHERE?
The game takes place at Kenilworth Road on Saturday 19th August. Kick-off is at 3pm.

LAST TIME WE PLAYED?
Town slipped to a 2-1 defeat the Weston Homes Community Stadium back in March, with a Chris Porter double in the first half doing the damage, as Town were only able to grab one right at the death.
