Celebrating the season so far after securing sixth spot and booking our place in the play-offs, 10 awards were presented at Venue 360 - the first presentation evening hosted in person for two years.
Goal of the season – Kal Naismith vs AFC Bournemouth (H) 15th January 2022
Amongst many outstanding goals this season, there could only be one winner! Kal scooped the awarded for his dramatic winner in the 3-2 win against AFC Bournemouth in January.
As the ball fell to the 30-year-old on the edge of the box, he controlled, chopped past the onrushing Jefferson Lerma, and curled a brilliant winner past Mark Travers to send the home supporters crazy in the seventh minute of additional time.
Internet Player of the Season, Ian Pearce Memorial Trophy, Signing of the Season and Bobbers Travel Club Away Player of the Season – Allan Campbell
The most successful winner on the night was midfielder Allan Campbell who picked up four awards, including the new trophy for this evening – Signing of the Season.
Campbell overcame a tough start to life in Luton colours after he suffered an injury in the away match against Blackburn in September, but from December onwards he was a mainstay in the team – featuring in 24 successive league matches before injury forced him to miss Monday’s game against Fulham.
The tenacious Scotsman has chipped in with four goals and two assists, including two long-range strikes in victories against AFC Bournemouth and West Brom. In fact, every time Campbell has scored, Luton have gone on to win the match.
LTST Outstanding Contribution – Mark Crowther
The LTST board decided that the Kevin Catlin Memorial Trophy award for outstanding contribution should go to mad Hatter, Mark Crowther!
Mark completed his incredible challenge of cycling to every Luton Town away match this season and raised thousands for charity in the process.
The Luton fan of 40 years combined the love for his club and his passion for cycling as he rode to 25 matches which totalled 2,800 miles (4,500km) and has so far raised over £12,000 for Keech Hospice, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and Prostate Cancer UK.
His challenge was completed on Monday where he rode to Fulham’s Craven Cottage wearing the suit he wore to the EFL awards, where he was recently nominated for Supporter of the Season.
Junior Supporters’ Player of the Season – Elijah Adebayo
Top goalscorer Elijah Adebayo was voted as the Junior Supporters’ Player of the Season after scoring 16 goals in his first full Championship campaign.
A team player with four assists to his name, the 23-year-old striker was instantly a big hit with supporters and scored the first goal of the season against Peterborough United in front of the returning fans at Kenilworth Road.
Young LTFC Player of the Season: Ed McJannet
Ed McJannet was crowned Young Player of the Season, as chosen by the academy coaching staff.
Professional Player Development boss Adrian Forbes commented on Ed’s award, saying: “It has been a very rewarding year for Ed. Having played the majority of the season for the Development squad, his performances have led to him being on the bench for the first team against Cambridge United in the FA Cup. He has represented and captained his country which has been a real highlight for Ed.
“His attitude, work rate and application to all training and games has been a real factor in allowing him to achieve what he has done this season."
Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season: Kal Naismith
Defender Kal Naismith picked up the main award of the evening after he was voted Player of the Season for his impressive performances on the pitch this season.
His team-mates further acknowledged his efforts by awarding him the Players’ Player of the Season award too after contributing two goals and seven assists.
The Scotsman, who also found himself in the EA Sports FIFA EFL Team of the Season earlier today, has been ever-present, making 41 league appearances - scoring two goals and assisting a further seven.
Speaking on stage after collecting his Player's Player of the Season award, Naismith said: "It means a lot. The first award (Goal of the Season) was in Mick's name which was great but to get the recognition from players is special. Every single one are great human beings and there is a lot of talent, so this is a special award for me."
