Keith Curle’s side suffered a rare home defeat as David Worrall scored the only goal of the game for visiting Port Vale, meaning they currently sit sixth in League Two, five points off the automatic promotion places.

Jones made his debut in the away win at Macclesfield Town the weekend before, but couldn’t stop the Cobblers suffering a first defeat since Boxing Day as the Valiants snatched all three points.

Sam Beckwith made his first appearance for Biggleswade Town on Saturday as they drew 2-2 with Nuneaton Borough, throwing away a two-goal lead against the play-off place chasers. Also on loan with Chris Nunn’s side, Corey Panter played the full 90 minutes, whilst Beckwith was withdrawn late on in the second half.

With Biggleswade going into the final stages of the game with a two-goal cushion, Nuneaton netted twice late on, including a 96th minute equaliser.

The draw means that Biggleswade Town sit in 14th with 40 points in the Southern Premier Division Central.

Striker Jake Jervis wasn’t named in the Salford City side that played out a goalless draw with Crawley Town, whilst Josh Neufville’s National League Woking didn’t have a game over the weekend.
