The Republic of Ireland international – who has seven caps to his name – has also got recent Premier League experience having played in Bournemouth's debut season in the top tier in the 2015/16 campaign.
Nathan Jones has once again played a pivotal role in bringing a top player to the club, with O'Kane impressed with the gaffer's vision.
The former Torquay United midfielder said: "I spoke to Nathan on the phone and he said, 'I wish I could sit down with you and I'd inspire you about football' and I was thinking, he'd already done that, and we had only been on the phone five minutes so credit to him. He's built a really good squad here, the way that they play football is tremendous and I can't wait to be a part of it.
"I've not been here very long at this point, but I've been really impressed with the set-up we have at the training ground, it's first class facilities and the pitches are excellent.
"Everyone has been extremely friendly, it seems like a really good bunch of lads and I'm looking forward to spending more time around them, getting to know them better and building better relationships both on and off the pitch."
The 28-year-old certainly influenced proceedings when he was introduced in the 65th minute at Wycombe. Although the Hatters couldn't quite recreate last season's pandemonium at the final whistle, there were positives to take away from the performance, especially in the final 20 minutes, with O'Kane linking up play impressively.
He said: "It's difficult to build relationships in 24 hours but the longer I spend here, the more minutes I play and the more I train with people, hopefully you'll see that come out with more than just Elliot.
"The dressing room was a little bit disappointed, I think as a collective we don't think we did very well in the first half. We didn't play too much football and got dragged in to the battle a little bit and to concede two penalties in the manner that we did is disappointing. But we gave a really good account of ourselves in the last 20 minutes and in the end, we could have won by one or two goals."
Having not made an appearance for Leeds this season, O'Kane is happy to get a few minutes played with his new team. However, he feels as if he isn't match fit yet and only has more to offer going forward.
He added: "I hope to get better and better as I get fitter and stronger so hopefully you've not seen the best of me yet. Hopefully I'll bring more of what you've seen in the last 20 minutes.
"Getting forward, making chances for people, creating chances, keeping the ball and getting us playing. I think that's what the manager has brought me here to do so hopefully I can do a lot more of that.
"I don't think I was ready to start, I haven't played much football in the last three or four weeks so I kind of expected to be on the bench. But it's frustrating sitting there, watching, not being able to help your team mates. Thankfully I got some time at the end, for one, my fitness and two, to contribute to getting that valuable point."
