Defender Amari’i Bell is looking forward to getting back on the pitch for Jamaica after his recent spell out with injury.

The Jamaican international has 15 caps but has not been involved with his national team since September 2023 after the hamstring injury he picked up last season.

Since Amari’i has been away from the Reggae Boyz, former England manager Steve McClaren has ended his five years away from being the main man in the dugout to take charge of the national team.

“It feels good to be back,” Amari’i told JFFLIVE. “It’s been a long time since I was last with the group so I’m happy to be here.

“I was getting up early watching the Jamaica games in the Nations League and Copa America, finishing third in the Nations League was a great achievement.

“I was gutted that I couldn’t be there for the celebrations, it was a proud moment for everyone.

“It was unfortunate that we didn’t do as well in the Copa America as we thought we were capable of, but it was good stepping stones for the future.”

Our number three is now looking to what lies ahead for the Reggae Boyz and Luton Town for the Nations League and the rest of the current Championship campaign.

“I’m excited for this new Nations League campaign, hopefully we can go one step further this time. That’s the plan and there’s no reason why we cannot do it.

“Everyone within the camp believes in ourselves and what we can do, so we’re going to go for it and see what happens.

“It was a big injury, one of the first of my career so mentally it was very hard to deal with and to get back in a good place.

“I had some ups and downs during the rehab process so I’m glad to have got through that rough patch now and I’m in good spirits.

“Playing in the Premier League last season was amazing; it was something that everyone aspires to achieve in their career and thankfully I got there.

“It was unfortunate that the experience was cut short because of my injury so I do feel like I have unfinished business there and the aim with Luton is to get back there.”

Amari’i and Jamaica begin their Nations League campaign at home to Cuba in the early hours of Saturday morning (1am BST) before travelling to Honduras at 3am (BST) next Wednesday.
