Watch | Nathan Jones' pre-Wycombe press conference

Manager Nathan Jones has provided a squad update ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Wycombe Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following defeat against Watford last weekend, the gaffer and his team return to Kenilworth Road with the opportunity to head into the international break with nine points on the board after a good start to the campaign.

Ahead of the game against the newly promoted Chairboys, Jones is set to be boosted by the return of midfielder Glen Rea, after he was substituted at half-time of the recent win over Derby County due to feeling unwell through light-headedness.

“We had to go through protocol so if selected, Glen is available because protocols have now all been met, which we had to do,” said Jones.

The same, unfortunately, cannot be said for Dan Potts, who is unlikely to feature against Wycombe.

“Still a good looking fella!" he joked when asked how the left-back was. "But apart from that, not quite ready yet. He’s on the grass back training so he’ll be far closer when we come out of the international break, but probably a game too far for him at the minute.”

Tom Lockyer is out of the Wales national squad and also unlikely to play at the weekend, as the gaffer explained: "It was something we had to (withdraw him from the national squad). Do we persevere or do we just pull him out of the game this week, and be ready for the game against Stoke? So it’s just a sensible one really.

“Sometimes these decisions have to be made. If it was two games from the end, he would have still been available because we would have persevered with it, but it’s not. We’re three games in and haven’t had a proper pre-season so again, he is one that is playing a little bit of catch up. We’ve got people here who are further ahead in the preparation than him so it’s just a logical one.”

On the other hand, left-back Rhys Norrington-Davies has earned his first senior call-up to the Wales squad and Nathan had plenty of good words to say about the Sheffield United loanee.

“We don’t bring anyone in on a whim," said Jones. "Anyone we bring in has been on our radar for a long time, I don’t gamble on characters, I don’t gamble on athletes, I don’t gamble on ability, so I know him.

"I watched him probably 10 times and ironically I needed to watch him 10 times because he at least five of them he played centre-half which I didn’t want to see him at. I had to keep going back but Rochdale is a nice place, the Bovril is good so I had no problem doing that!

“He’s as good as I thought he would be, put him in our environment and he’s done very, very well. Great lad, absolutely great lad, reminds me of a little bit of a quick Glen Rea in terms of intelligence!

"But apart from that, he’s wonderful player, really settled quickly. I knew what he was like as an athlete, as a footballer and God willing, he is going to get better because we don’t want him to stay at that level, we want him to be even better.”
