Luke Berry believes the Hatters can “kick on and do really well” after winning 1-0 away at Middlesbrough yesterday afternoon.

Ryan Tunnicliffe’s goal during the first half was enough to give Town their first win on the road since beating Blackburn Rovers in September and moves them to within four points of safety.

Starting with praise for the goalscorer, Berry said: “We know how important he is for the team and he’s been plugging away, he’s been getting chances and it has come off for him really well today.

“He’s always working hard,” the midfielder continued. “His distances are great every game and if he can add goals into it then I think he will be brilliant.”

The win at the Riverside Stadium ends a run of 11 league away games without a win but the 27-year-old, as well as the manager and the rest of the team, sensed a change after the game against Nottingham Forest last month.

“The manager was saying a few weeks ago when we played Forest that he could feel there was a bit of a mindset change," said Berry. "We didn’t go there with any fear and I think since then, Cardiff I know we lost, but it was a game we should have really won, and then today you can see that we’re going into games thinking we’re going to win.”

With two consecutive wins, the Hatters are quickly looking to haul themselves out of the relegation zone and Berry certainly feels the squad has the right mentality to do so.

“There has always been a belief since day one, it’s just a new league and we have had to learn quick, that’s the main thing," he said. "I think that now we’ve got Championship experience in the squad, I think you can see that today and the last few weeks where we’re not being naive.”

The midfielder also stated that: “We’ve got loads of players in the team who in the squad, in the unit, can come in and perform. We’ve got the mileage to do it, that’s the most important thing.”

With an elusive away victory wrapped up, Berry is keen to see more of the same from the team in the coming matches, saying: “It is a shame we haven’t won more but now we’re on a good little bit of form, we can kick on and really do well.”
