Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was disappointed following defeat against Derby County after an away goal proved elusive yet again for the Hatters.

It was an afternoon of frustration for the Town, who went behind in the early stages but then created a number of chances of their own – particularly in the first period - before Derby struck again from the penalty spot in the second half.

"In the first half we had two or three clear-cut chances which on another day, we would score,” Dewsbury-Hall admitted. “I just felt second half, it took the wind out of our sails a bit that second goal and at half-time we said we wanted to start quick and put pressure on them.

“But them getting the second goal changed the game a bit and it is hard to get back when you’re down. It is disappointing in that aspect, but we just need to go back now and dust ourselves off ready for Monday.”

Despite already being on 50 points, the on loan midfielder was keen to suggest that his teammates remain focused on amassing as many points as they can from now until the end of the season.

“We have progressed this season and we are in a position where we are not going to get relegated and we’re looking to build now on next season. We need to just keep putting performances in that are positive going into the next season, try and win as many games as possible. We want to finish strong and that will give us the momentum. That is what it’s all about now going into the final stages of the season.

“We have some big games coming up, Barnsley are doing well. They have their own style of play that we have to adapt to and then we have Watford soon as well. I know even on loan it is a massive game, it is a big rivalry so we are going to go back and press down on the training pitch ready for a massive week ahead.”

On a personal note, the 22-year-old has now surpassed 30 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and believes that has been vital to his development.

“I think I have progressed a lot as a player,” the Leicester loanee said. “I have learned a lot here, not just as a player but as a person. Working under different coaching management, working on new things, a new style of play and it has only benefitted me. You have your ups and downs, you are never going to play well the whole season but it is about how you react to that and to adversity. I feel like I have grown as a person and a player and it is only going to be a positive for me going into the rest of my career.”

Looking ahead to new season too, Dewsbury-Hall was full of praise for the club and didn’t rule out the possibility of returning to Kenilworth Road.

“If next season Luton were interested again it is something I definitely would take seriously because I feel like I have improved as a player and it has been good for my development and career. I’m just going to take the rest of the season as it comes, try and finish the league as positively as possible and then if and when it comes to it at the start of next season, for whatever reason, I will definitely sit down and take a serious chat with a lot of people and see what is going to happen.”
