The forward scored his 12th goal of the season, coming off the bench to score in Wales as he did earlier this year at Swansea.
Extending his goal record meant that the 27-year-old is now enjoying his most successful season in front of goal but yet he rued not taking another chance in the match before scoring!
“I should have scored from Pete Kioso’s (cross), I scored from Snods and not from Pete’s but his was easier! Happy to score, happy to contribute, it’s a massive win.
“I should definitely score it, be a bit braver at the front stick but happy to get the second chance and take it. It was a good goal, that’s 12 now which is a lot more than I did last season so I’m happy to contribute. It’s all about the team, everyone said that.
“I knew I wasn’t playing and I said ‘gaffer, whatever I need to do for this team, however I can contribute, I’m happy to do it’. If I sit in the stands for the next three games and we get in the play-offs I’m not bothered, I just want to make sure the team do well.”
Further on his discussions with the manager, Cornick added: “He speaks to me a lot. Everyone knows their role, there’s a lot of games and players who deserve to be playing. A lot of players who haven’t played that much this season who think they should be playing, and it spurs everyone on.
“Everyone knows they have to fight for their places, people who haven’t been playing the likes of Pete who hasn’t played much, he’s come in today off the bench and he was unbelievable in the last five minutes, making blocks, winning headers and putting his body on the line. That’s what we need to get into the play-offs and then see how far we can go if we make it.”
After cementing their fourth place position, Cornick couldn’t hide his happiness and hopes to end the season in strong form.
“Everyone is buzzing, you cant hide the fact everyone is happy. You’d be silly not to talk about it. We went in there, looked at the results, it’s what you speak about. if you don’t speak about it then what’s the point of trying to do it. We’re going to make sure we look into it and everyone is buzzing with the win.”
