Following his arrival at the club during the January transfer window, Adebayo had not yet had the chance to hear the Kenny in voice but he admitted: “We have missed them, wasn’t the same without them. For me it was the first time playing in front of the Luton Town fans and I’m looking forward to having them behind us hopefully for large parts of the season cheering us on.

"They definitely pushed us on a little bit, especially at the end when we were going for that winner."

To mark the occasion, he scored a lovely goal in the early stages after Fred Onyedinma picked him out inside the box.

“These are the type of things we work on in training,” the striker said. “We are trying to mix up the game, not trying to be one dimensional so it is about finding solutions and different ways to score.

"Me and Fred have got a good little partnership, same with Harry on the other side. As a front three whether it is Carlos playing out there or someone else, we all try and help each other get the best possible chances and look for each other to score. I’m happy with another goal and hopefully I can take that into the season!”

Nathan Jones has a number of attacking options at his disposal and each have impressed in their own right during pre-season, providing support for the big man up top.

“The gaffer mentioned last week that Jordan Clark is the best player in the world and he doesn’t surprise me anymore in training. He is someone that can play in different positions, he is good wherever he plays. Carlos has come in, he has settled down well, Fred has come in and he is the same so we’re just looking forward to being a force in the Championship next season and I’m looking forward to it.”

“The hard graft in pre-season has definitely been a challenge for Adebayo, however, as he said: “It has been tough but obviously that is what pre-season is for, to hopefully get fit, make sure you are strong because we are hopefully looking at a 50-game season. We have to be able to go for 50 games and more throughout the season and give 100 per cent.”
