Town were fell two goals behind in the first half but similarly to the win against Sheffield Wednesday in February, produced a fantastic turnaround courtesy of goals from James Collins, Harry Cornick and Adebayo himself.
“We have done it once before and we did say in the changing room that the next goal is crucial,” the striker began. “We needed to get the goal and then anything can happen really. We want to try and make it easy for ourselves, we don’t want to be going into games two-nil down but again, great character from the boys.
“The spirit in there is second to none. Everyone knows when we go down, we are going to get a reaction and the gaffer came in and said we know we haven’t been anywhere near our standards from the past two games and if you raise it a little bit, you are going to hurt them and that is what we did second half.”
It was the fifth goal Adebayo had scored for the club since joining on Deadline Day in January, a positive start which he vows to improve upon, also.
“I’m used to being on the back stick but I just held my position and guided it on target and I was just happy to see it go in. We were level and then we went on to go the winner which was good so I’m always happy to contribute. Three points is the main thing at the end of the day.
“Since I have come in, I wouldn’t have thought they would be battling relegation last season because the spirit and the togetherness in the group is fantastic. You can see that from when we’re on the pitch together. Everyone is smiling and around each other. We said 60 points and then we will go on from there, we want to go on and finish as high as possible and I don’t think there is anything stopping us really.
“I am delighted, I know there is still more to come from me. I am obviously just finding my feet but the boys have been fantastic with me, welcoming me and then guiding me through each game. Big Mick has been guiding me through each game and it is about me getting to the level and then hoping to kick on and grab as many goals as possible.”
Further on Harford’s involvement, the 22-year-old said: “He is always in my ear just giving me little bits of advice that people might not see but we have a conversation every day and he tells me little different things that can improve my game. He will analyse the game and then come and tell me to do this, do that. I’m here to listen and learn so moving forward is going to be good.”
