TRAVELLING HATTERS PRAISED BY GATESHEAD SAFETY OFFICER

Following yesterday’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Gateshead, we have today received the following note from the safety officer at the Vanarama National League club, David Culling, which we would like to share with our supporters.

‘I am writing to compliment all 381 of your supporters who travelled to Gateshead yesterday. From my position in the control room it was obvious that from the moment your first supporters arrived, to the point when I stood stewards down, that the day was going extremely well, with very little air traffic from my staff.

‘I mentioned this at our debrief to the Supervisor looking after the Luton end, and his reply was “In the four years I have been doing this job that was the easiest day I have ever had and I even told a group of Luton supporters that they could come back every week if they wished”.

‘The Supervisor who oversaw the departure of your supporters then said “it was lovely when they were leaving, they were even thanking us for the day”. ‘Whilst it would be easy to think that after a 5-0 win supporters would be in a happy frame of mind, I must reiterate that this exemplary behaviour was from first arrival. Would you be so kind as to pass on mine and my staffs thanks to anyone you feel it appropriate to do so.’

Thank you to everyone who travelled to the north-east and gave such wonderful support to Nathan and the team. That, and your conduct in doing so, is appreciated by all at Kenilworth Road!
