THE HATTERS PARTNER WITH GAMSTOP

Luton Town has announced a partnership with GAMSTOP, the free, independent service that allows consumers to exclude themselves from gambling websites.

GAMSTOP provides a simple, secure one-stop solution for anyone who wants to take a break from gambling. From March 31st 2020, all British online operators must be registered with GAMSTOP as a condition of their Gambling Commission license, which means it will cover the entire British market for the first time.

Consumers who register with GAMSTOP can choose to exclude themselves from every gambling site for a minimum period of six months, one year or five years. They cannot then remove themselves from the scheme until their self-exclusion period has expired, and if they do not contact GAMSTOP, their registration is automatically rolled over for up to seven years.

Luton are one of the first football clubs to partner with GAMSTOP, and that partnership will entail raising awareness of the tool across the club website, social channels and on selected matchdays, to ensure consumers know how to access the tool should they need it.

The partnership represents the latest step in Luton’s commitment to promoting safer gambling, following the club’s participation in Responsible Gambling Week in 2019.

More than 120,000 people have already registered with GAMSTOP, which also works closely with gambling charities. Anyone who contacts the service, either through the website or by calling the helpline, is referred to specialist advisors if they need additional help and support with their gambling issues.

Fiona Palmer, chief executive of GAMSTOP, said: “Working with Luton will be a huge benefit in helping us to reach the consumers who most need to be aware of the GAMSTOP self-exclusion tool.

"We have been working very hard for the last two years to ensure that GAMSTOP becomes a trusted, secure and independent service that helps anyone who has an issue with their gambling to exclude themselves from online sites.

"This partnership with Luton will educate more people about GAMSTOP’s important work and help to provide greater protection to consumers”.
