Edwards said: “When our supporters are clapping us off like that at the end, it makes me really proud - proud of them, the lads and proud to represent the whole football club.
“Throughout the game they were incredible, and the players feed off it. They all spoke about it.
“But what I witnessed, felt and saw at the end, I’ve not seen that before. Maybe abroad, but the passion they showed, that was special and it was emotional.
“The connection we’ve all got now with our supporters is unique. No-one will go to Stamford Bridge and lose a game of football and have their fans do that at the end. Thank you to every single one of them.
“They were amazing and they were amazing because they saw their team compete and give everything. We were right in that game for large spells.
“The fans can see the effort that the players put in and we were brave, we really tried to be aggressive when we could, tried to take the ball, which we did, and we did give everything.
“Now we go home, and it’ll be different again. The intensity at the Kenny is really special. It’s a unique place. We are really looking forward to being at home in front of our supporters for two matches, first Gillingham and then West Ham, and really making it count.
“This week is going to be so special, a real positive for us.”
