Team news for Everton test

Ross Barkley has trained the past two days but Town manager Rob Edwards says the former Everton midfielder won’t be in contention to face his former club on Saturday.

The boss also said Tom Lockyer is fit for selection and has trained after a slight concern over the skipper’s fitness in the past week.

Loan midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga is definitely not available after the Arsenal man injured his hamstring and is back with his parent club recuperating.

Gabe Osho, Dan Potts and Jordan Clark remain sidelined, although the former is back on the grass.

On the match itself, Edwards is expecting a difficult test against a Toffees side who have won twice this week after victories over Brentford and at Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

“They’re a good team with good players and an experienced manager,” he said. “I think the performances have been there, they’ve just not got the results. They’re hard-working, organised and athletic.

“They’ll look to play on the front foot earlier and get their attacking players in the game and look to engage their supporters.

“We’ve got to be ready for that fast and their aggressive nature. That will suit us and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
