SIX TO LEAVE THE TOWN AS RETAINED LIST IS CONFIRMED

Following the club’s promotion to Sky Bet League One, manager Nathan Jones and his staff have been making decisions on the future of players whose Luton Town contracts expire next month.

We can confirm that five professionals – Scott Cuthbert, Johnny Mullins, Jordan Cook, Lawson D’Ath and Kavan Cotter – will leave Kenilworth Road when their deals end on June 30th.

Central defender Scott has captained the club for most of his three years with us, leading by example off the pitch and on it, where he scored four times in 111 appearances after joining from Leyton Orient.

Fellow centre-back Johnny has also worn the armband several times following his move from Oxford United in June 2016, not least on that memorable day at Newcastle in the FA Cup third round last January, and leaves with three goals in 51 appearances to his name.

Jordan netted five times in 58 games after arriving that same summer, Lawson scored once in 26 matches during his season-and-a-half as a Town player, while youth product Kavan found the net in what was only his second senior appearance in the Checkatrade Trophy last term, which was spent mostly gaining valuable experience on loan at Hitchin Town and Oxford City.

The two loan players who helped the club to promotion, Andrew Shinnie and Flynn Downes, have returned to their parent clubs. Andrew played a major role in the club’s success on a season-long loan from Birmingham City, scoring three times in 34 appearances, while teenager Flynn impressed greatly in his ten appearances and heads back to Ipswich to continue his career in the Championship.

We are in a position to confirm that offers of new contracts have been made to Alan McCormack, Glen Rea and Olly Lee, although the latter has already indicated he will be moving on.

The club has exercised its right to take up options to extend the contracts of Dan Potts, Aaron Jarvis, Harry Isted and Akin Famewo for a further year.

Under the terms of their current contracts, Alan Sheehan, Danny Hylton, James Collins, Elliot Lee, Jack Stacey, James Justin, Harry Cornick and Frankie Musonda have all had an extra year added to their deals as a result of winning promotion.

From the academy, right-back Jack James – who made his senior debut this season in the Checkatrade Trophy – has been offered his first professional contract. Fellow second-year scholar Arthur Read is already under contract, having signed a three-year professional contract in November 2016.

The six other second-year scholars – Ciaran Gordon-Stearn, Scott Belgrove, Ciaren Jones, Joe Mead, Michael Shamalo and Kitan Sorunke – have all been released.

We thank all of the players who are leaving us for their effort and commitment during their time as Hatters, especially during the last hugely successful season. Their contribution to the League Two promotion-winning campaign – and EFL Youth Alliance Cup victory – will not be forgotten and they will always be welcome visitors to Kenilworth Road.

On behalf of all at LTFC, we wish them every success in their future career.
