After losing a league game for the first time since September last week, the ladies were looking to return to winning ways when they took on the Essex side.

The away side started brighter in the opening ten minutes, but the Hatters soon found their feet and were unlucky to not go ahead when Chloe Tambula put her shot wide from just inside the box, and Sanders found herself through on goal but her shot was over the bar.

On 37 minutes a superb Fi Constable corner put it on a plate for Maddix to step in with a bullet header to put the town 1-0 up.

Goalkeeper Hannah Payne was then called into action and made a superb save to keep the lead, and just before half-time, teenager Stanton beat her defender and guided her well hit shot into the roof of the net to double the lead.

A substitution at half-time saw top goal scorer Olivia Abraham return after injury and she was straight in on the action, seeing her shot well saved.

Bowers had a short spell at the beginning of the second half but another superb save from Payne and some excellent defending from Shez Oliver kept it out.

At the other end Oliver then hit the bar with a superb effort from a corner, before Abraham added a third, another header from another Constable corner.

Some more excellent defending late on by player of the match Shez Oliver earned a clean sheet for the ladies.

After the game manager Nikki Baker said: “It was a real treat for us to play at Kenilworth Road. We started a little nervously but once we got into it we started to play some good football.

“We didn’t play our best at times but we still controlled the game, we scored three good goals and a kept a clean sheet.

“It was amazing to see so many of our young girls at the game, all inspiring to be like the first team players. Thanks to Luton Town for letting us play at Kenilworth Road.”
