Town first team coach Joaquin Gomez was pleased with his side's dominant performance at Bedford Town last night as a brace from Connor Tomlinson saw the Hatters run out 2-0 winners.

Gomez's team was a mix of pros and Under-18s, with the side putting in a brilliant performance as they enjoyed a majority of the best chances and possession.

The Spaniard said: "I thought it was a very positive performance. I think there were different players in different situations, it's not as easy as it might seem.

"Some of them will be really excited to play for the first time or one more time with the pros, for others, it might be a bit of a different situation when they come from the first team and play this. But they were all here because we thought it was the right thing to do – for them to be playing and getting 90 minutes.

"For some of them it might be confidence, or to be improving specific things that we have asked them to do, so they were all here for a reason. I thought the performance was very professional, I thought we dominated throughout. It did get a little bit more difficult in the second half. But I thought it was really positive and we're really pleased with the performance.

"You've got to talk to them and explain why they're here. Some of them are here because they need the minutes or the confidence or we're working on specific things, so then they're closer to be pushing within those positions in the first team. I thought everyone approached the game in the right way and got out of it what they needed."
