On the back of three consecutive wins in the Sky Bet Championship, the boss and his side now turn their attention to the cup and Edwards is looking to build his own memories in the prestigious competition.
“The FA Cup is here and we’re looking forward to it. It’s a fantastic competition and one we want to try and do as well as possible in. We want to keep winning and we look forward to the cup. It’s another really good game for us, it’s another Championship team anyway so it’s a team we know a fair bit about which is good, and we look forward to it.
“As a youngster growing up and watching it, the FA Cup Final being on the TV, someone of my age, it was a really, really big thing. Football has changed and evolved a little bit now for the youngsters growing up these days, it’s a lot more accessible, there’s some kind of football now on every day, it’s a little bit different, but as a player, I wish had more success in it and gone deeper into the tournament but never really did.
“One of the highlights was we did play Manchester United at Molineux when I was at Wolves, that was really good, although we lost 3-0, Rio Ferdinand played in midfield, that’s how good he was that day.
“It’s nice to be able to get through to a certain stage and be able to play some of the big boys, which we’ve done fairly recently this club, but I’d love us to be able to write some of our own stories going forwards now.”
The manager has been full of praise for his squad over a busy Christmas and new year period, and is keen for the team to continue their winning momentum.
“There will be a couple of changes, but I don’t need to go mad. I want to try and keep a rhythm and we haven’t got loads of midweek games coming up now either. One or two will get an opportunity but we want to keep the rhythm. We’re in a good moment and we want to keep that going.
“I think it makes sense. We want to keep that momentum and I stressed this today, because it’s the FA Cup, we don’t come off it now because it’s not the league. We want to keep the momentum going.”
