Defeat against Wigan Athletic last weekend has created added importance on the next three results heading into the first international break of the season.
Speaking to the local press on Thursday afternoon, Jones said: “It’s a big week. Especially after the defeat against Wigan, that would have put us in a wonderful position but we’re playing a little bit of catch-up so it’s a big week coming up with three tough games.
“The other day against Wigan for almost 80 minutes we should have been comfortable, but we weren’t, and that is what the Championship can do. Our home games, performance-wise have been very good but we just haven’t got the points and fortunate enough our away form has been quite good.
Asked whether he puts that down to anything in particular, the boss replied: “The performance levels are there this early so it’ll come. We have missed a lot of chances, our XG has been better than everyone we’ve played at home, so it’ll come. We have to make sure it comes sooner rather than later.”
Starting against his former club on Saturday, the Welshman is hoping that his side can increase their points tally in Staffordshire.
“We have a strong squad, we’re trying to find a bit of rhythm in terms of everything, we’ve been okay in terms of results, but we need to be better. Our performance levels have been there or thereabouts, we just need to keep improving on every level. We have a week now of real tough football games that we want to get points in.”
