Who?
After a three season stay in the third tier of English football, the Spireites finished bottom of Sky Bet League One and were relegated.
In charge?
It's fair to say Gary Caldwell had a successful playing career, having plied his trade in the Scottish Premier League with Celtic and in the Premier League with Wigan – winning the Emirates FA Cup. He took over the role as manager at Proact Stadium after the departure of Danny Wilson, but was unable to prevent Chesterfield suffering relegation. Caldwell has a good pedigree in getting teams promoted though, as his first full season in charge at his previous side Wigan, he guided them to the Sky Bet League One title at the first attempt.
The season?
It didn't actually start too poorly for the Derbyshire based side, but a nine-game winless run from the end of September through to mid-November put Chesterfield on the backfoot and their season fell apart from January onwards as they struggled for results.
Significants signings so far?
The Spireites have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in a number of signings. Included in those is Gozie Ugwu, who has just had a prolific season in Non-League with Vanarama National League side Woking, netting 21 times in 49 appearances. Scott Wiseman is another notable addition, adding a decent amount of experience having achieved two promotions with Hull City, before going onto play for the likes of Preston North End and Scunthorpe United.
Head-to-head?
The most recent of the 39 matches between the two ended in a convincing win for the Hatters, as Nathan Jones' side ran out 4-0 winners in the Checkatrade Trophy back in January. Town have triumphed 17 times, drawn 11 and lost 11 of those games.
Familiar face to both clubs?
Drew Talbot was signed by the Hatters in 2007 and went onto play 63 times scoring five goals. He was loaned to Chesterfield in 2009 and made the move permanent, remaining with the club for seven years. Keeper Robert Beckwith made 19 appearances for the Town between 2002-06, as well as going out on loan to the Spireites during that time.
