Town boss Nathan Jones was proud of his side as they ground out a 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town to extend their unbeaten run at home in Sky Bet League One to 11 games.

Harry Cornick broke the deadlock early on when he converted from James Justin's cross, before Danny Hylton saw his cross deflect off Craig Morgan and past Alex Cairns in the 80th minutes.

With Sunderland's game abandoned at Accrington, the result saw the Hatters move up to 2nd in Sky Bet League One.

Jones said: "It was a big day, a big day. It was difficult, the conditions weren't great for a fluent football match. It was a swirling wind, the pitch was heavy from having a game here in midweek. That's probably the bonus of being out of the Checkatrade Trophy, we don't have to keep playing on the pitch, because we are going to need it.

"I am delighted because we showed a different side to us, a real steely edge, limited them to very little chances, limited them to a header and a shot outside the box. We weren't at our fluent best, we just put our head on everything. These are a good side, you look at the front two they have got who are perennial goalscorers in any league they play in.

"People like Ross Wallace, Dean Marney who have played in the Premier League. We have showed a real quality about us today and it was different, it wasn't a fluent game, we showed a real steely edge, did our defensive responsibilities and I am really proud of them."
