The Welshman feels his side have improved significantly since last term – when they lost both their home and away games against Darren Sarll's side.
He said: "What we don't want to do is make the same mistakes. Last year is gone now, what we want to do is learn from every single thing we could have done better last year i.e. I very much hope they don't outfight us this year because we have some real winners in our side and this is a better group this year."
Town welcome Stevenage to the Kenny with Jones' side enjoying their best run of form since he joined the Hatters in January 2016.
A summer signing who has been receiving plaudits for his performances in recent games is Harry Cornick, who has started in the Town's last three league games – two of which we have won.
His direct running and pace has added another dimension to the Hatters' attack, but the gaffer was also keen to point out his side were in decent form before the 22-year-old was selected for the starting XI.
"Our good form has coincided with him being chosen, whether that's a direct result or anything is another thing. We were in good form before that anyway," said Jones.
"We haven't lost many and the one at home we did lose we went down to ten men and we still tried to chase the game.
"He has been excellent, Harry, but so have a lot of people, there's good competition. You've got to play well to stay in the team."
Dan Potts has played every single minute of league football for the Hatters so far this term, but he is unavailable for the Boro games after picking up his fifth booking of the season, but Jones already knows who he is selecting to fill the boots of the ex-West Ham United defender.
Jones continued: "We know who we are going to use there. We have worked on those things today. We have got good options and good competition there. We have got three to choose from, so we are well covered in that area.
"Dan Potts will be a miss there because has been in fantastic form and he was wrongfully booked on the weekend, but sooner or later he would have picked up his fifth booking. It's just a little bit unfortunate that it's occurred sooner rather than later.
"We know what Alan Sheehan gives us, we know what Jack Senior gives us because he has played enough games for us, and we kind of know which one we are going to use. We are ready. We worked on it today and we are looking forward to it."
