Defeat against Swansea was harsh for the Town on Saturday so there will be extra incentive to put things right quickly against a Coventry side who haven’t played a match for 10 days.

Nathan Jones said:

Building on performance against Swansea: “It is definitely something to build on and that is what we have to do. We have to make sure we take the positives from Saturday but improve on the things we need to. The clinical edge is something we lacked.”

On match delays: “We have a number of games now. We had a full week off and now we have two games, the Preston game will probably be the one where fatigue will set in a little bit more, but these are the times we live in.

“It is very unfortunate we have had games that have been called off because they have hindered us. QPR we were in great form, then the game was delayed, and we didn’t quite put in the performance. Exactly the same recently, Rotherham was our game in hand, we wanted to play that and if we did that, we could have gone tenth.”

Who?

Coventry City gained promotion to the Sky Bet Championship last season after finishing 1st on points-per-game, losing just three league games in League One.

Historically, they are well known for their 1987 FA Cup victory, which saw them overcome Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Wembley Stadium.

The Manager – Mark Robins

Following an esteemed playing career, turning out for the likes of Manchester United, Leicester City and Norwich City, Mark Robins turned to management in 2007.

After time managing Rotherham United and Barnsley, he initially joined Coventry in 2012, before re-joining in 2017 where has remained since.

Main threat – Tyler Walker

Tyler Walker joined Nottingham Forest in 2006 and was at the City Ground until this summer, when Coventry signed him on a permanent deal.

After successful loan spells with Mansfield Town and Lincoln City in back-to-back seasons, son of former England defender Des Walker joined the Sky Blues, and he is their top scorer this season with six goals.

When and where?

Kick-off is 7pm at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday 16th March.
