In order for the Town to win promotion, they would face the tough task of defeating Nigel Clough's side, as well as relying on Sunderland to defeat or draw with Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light. Town could be promoted even if they draw – Barnsley would need to be defeated by Blackpool and Portsmouth would need to beat Sunderland.
There is the potential for the league title to be won as well by the Town – they would need to win, Sunderland would have to beat Portsmouth, as well as Barnsley either drawing or being defeated by Blackpool at Oakwell.
Mick Harford's team have a real challenge on their hands at the Pirelli Stadium though, with the Brewers being one of the more entertaining sides in the third tier with their attractive style of play.
Whilst their place in League One is confirmed for next season, Burton until their last two games had been in red hot form, winning four of five by comfortable margins, including a 5-2 victory over Accrington and netting three against Blackpool, Barnsley and Scunthorpe. Defeats against Portsmouth and Southend United in their most recent outings reflects in the long injury list Clough now has, with his top scorer Liam Boyce hobbling off in their loss to the Shrimpers.
MICK HARFORD SAYS:
On facing Burton: "They are a good team Burton – I saw them play against Portsmouth. They were unlucky to lose the way they played. They played a certain type of football, the way Nigel wants to play and they're a good footballing team, it will be a tough ask for us. You want a team that's got something to play for, but knowing Nigel as I do, I've known him down the years, I've played against him and he'll be desperate to beat a team that's top of the league, a team of good professionals and I'm sure we'll put a strong team out."
On Dan Potts' injury: "Pottsy is back on the grass again which is great news for us, we don't know whether he will be available yet, we'll just see how he reacts to the last couple of days whilst he has been training."
On the Hatters' fantastic support: "Town supporters are up there with the best fans in the country, especially with what the club has been through in the past few years and they support the club to the hilt. All I can do is send a message to them, that their support is appreciated and the players will 100 per cent, definitely be up for the next few games to try and get ourselves over the line."
WHO?
Currently sat tenth in League One, Burton are back in the third tier after a two season stint in the Championship. Safe from relegation now, but mathematically unable to reach the play-offs, the 2018/19 campaign has been one of consolidation for Nigel Clough's side. Their highest ever achieved league position is 20th in the Championship, which they reached in 2016/17.

The Hatters played Burton earlier on this season at Kenilworth Road; the result ending in a 2-0 win for the home side, with Jack Stacey grabbing the opener early on and a well-placed penalty from James Collins in the second half sealing the three points. The Town previously met the Brewers in League Two in the 2014/15 season and lost both games 1-0.
