LUTON TOWN CEDARS U18 SHADOW SQUAD COMPLETE LEAGUE DOUBLE!

Though the Season is not yet finished we are delighted to announce that the Luton Town Cedars Under-18 Shadow Squad have secured both of their league titles with time to spare.

In the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League they finished with a playing record of:

P20, W15, D3, L2, GF52, GA16, PTS48.

That means they have won the division by eight clear points form AFC Dunstable.

The picture above shows the lads with the trophy and medals after beating Wycombe Wanderers 3-0 in their last game of the season.

In the National League Under-19 Alliance they finished with a playing record of:

P18, W16, D0, L2, GF70, GA7, PTS48.

They won the division by two points from Boreham Wood, who pushed them every step of the way. With three games to go and one of them in hand on Boreham Wood, it was apparent that the lads were going to have to win all of their last three games to secure the title. This they did in great style, scoring 14 and conceding one. Finishing with a 6-1 away win at Kings Langley.

The record of conceding only seven goals in 18 games is a truly remarkable achievement and a great reflection on coach Joe Deeney.

With no play-offs in the SCFYL they move on to the National League play-offs, where the ten divisional champions compete for the title of the country's ‘Champion of Champions.’

Also the lads are in the Bedfordshire Schools County Cup semi-final and are looking to progress to the final and retain this trophy.

Further updates will come as we get more news.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A PART OF THIS SUCCESS STORY?

The recruitment process for next season’s squad is now underway. Academically participants will need to have reached the Sixth Form five GCSE passes at the 9-5 entry level requirements to be able to participate in the necessary three A levels for the Elite Football Development Programme. The three chosen A level subjects must have GCSE passes at absolute minimum five (subject dependent). If you are unable to undertake three A levels you will not be accepted. Final grades are not a guarantee of acceptance; because of the additional pressures we may require students to have higher than 9-5 Grades. Cedars Upper School will ultimately have the discretion whether to accept or decline any individual application.
