Working alongside the Luton Town Disabled Supporters Association (The LTDSA), we are constantly looking at different ways in which we can improve our facilities.
We recently caught up with disabled supporter Dennis Clarke, to find out first-hand how he finds it as a wheelchair user to gain access to the ground. Kenilworth Road is a very old stadium, and the club are aware that there some aspects to the design and location of the ground which mean that access is sometimes not as easy as it might be - for example, the steepness of the slope into the stadium from Maple Road, or the lack of cover from the elements in the main stand area. Dennis also points out the positives - the helpful staff, the proximity to the pitch and the great atmosphere. Our discussions with supporters like Dennis, and constant dialogue with the LTDSA have helped us to incorporate ideas and suggestions into Luton Town Football Club 2020 Ltd’s plans for Power Court, to ensure that disabled supporters’ match day experience can be fully enjoyed moving forwards. In the mean time, we strive to deliver the best possible experience for disabled supporters, whatever their disabilities.
The annual LPF Weeks of Action initiative, now in its 13th year, runs from March 3rd-18th and aims to celebrate access and inclusion for disabled sports fans across England and Wales.
Along with the video of Dennis, we're have also created an information film, providing details of access to the stadium for disabled supporters.
We continue to work closely with our own Disabled Supporters' Association and should you wish to contact them about any relevant issues then please email LTDSA@lutontown.co.uk
This Weeks of Action campaign we are joining together with sports clubs, fans and organisations across England and Wales to celebrate the #OurMatchday to not only promote the positive experience had by disabled fans but also the message of access and inclusion for all.
