The on-loan Manchester City man took a knock while on international duty with Burkina Faso but has trained this week and will travel to Brentford on Saturday.
Midfielder Marvelous Nakamba will, however, miss the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium but Edwards had positive news on the Zimbabwean’s fitness.
“It’s his knee, it was swollen and he had some discomfort, but he’s had scans and checks and it’s not too serious,” said the boss. “He’s been on the grass at times this week but he’s not quite right and won’t be ready this week.”
Sambi Lokonga is also nearing fitness and has trained fully this week as the on-loan Arsenal midfielder recovers from a hamstring injury sustained in September against Wolves.
“He’s been given the all clear, he’s trained fully and it’s about building him up in the right way,” said Edwards. “He’ll continued to work with the strength and conditioning guys but he’ll be on the pitch soon.”
Despite the positivity, the manager hinted there may be a few doubts for the trip to the capital.
“It’s been an up and down week,” added Edwards. “We’re managing one or two but training’s been good but we’ll have to see if one or two are ready or not.”
Full preview from the boss to come.
