An early goal from Harry Cornick and a well-worked Elijah Adebayo strike ensured Luton returned to Bedfordshire with the points.

The game got off to a great start for the Hatters when Harry Cornick put Luton ahead after eleven minutes. Wigan defender Steven Caulker got caught up in his own feet on the edge of the box and he was dispossessed by Harry Cornick whose deflected effort found the back of the net.

Luton had another good chance shortly afterwards when Elijah Adebayo was released down the left wing and his mazy run got him past the Wigan defenders. He played a ball across the box, but James Bree was just a fraction too late to get a touch as the ball went out for a goal kick.

Wigan had the ball in the back of the net when a ball was whipped in from the right wing and Ashley Fletcher headed home but this was disallowed as Fletcher was deemed offside by the linesman.

Early in the second half, the Hatters doubled their lead in a fantastic team goal. Ethan Horvath played the ball to Gabriel Osho who found Elijah Adebayo, he flicked the ball onwards to Harry Cornick who was unleashed down the right wing. He cut the ball back to Elijah Adebayo and his one touch finish flew past Ben Amos to put Luton 0-2 up.

Luton almost had a third late on when Jordan Clark played the ball to Alfie Doughty on the edge of the box who lined up a shot. His effort whistled past the post. This was about it for the game as Luton cruised to a 0-2 win.

Yet another win for Luton as the Hatters continues their fine form under Rob Edwards. Up next for the Hatters is Grimsby Town at home in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
