The 20-year-old joined Peterborough United in November 2021 from Vanarama National League side King’s Lynn Town for an undisclosed fee.

At that point, the teenager had made one appearance for the Linnets, but he starred in a stint at Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Wroxham where he netted 21 goals in 13 appearances.

Initially part of the Under 23 squad, he scored a hat-trick in a Premier League Cup quarter-final victory against Charlton Athletic. Four days later, he made his first-team and Championship debut in March 2022 off the bench against AFC Bournemouth, before making three more appearances last season.

This term, he scored his first goal for the Posh in an EFL Cup win over Plymouth Argyle and has amassed 15 appearances in all competitions.

In September, the forward made his debut for Wales U21s in a 2-0 defeat against Austria U21s and now arrives as Rob Edwards’ fourth signing of the January transfer window.

Manager Rob Edwards said: “Joe’s an exciting young player and someone that the recruitment team here have been tracking for a while. He’s very quick, he gets chances and we really like the look of him.

“He’s still inexperienced at the moment, but we feel he will be a really good asset for the club going forward, someone we are looking forward to getting in the building and working with.”

Chief Recruitment Officer Mick Harford added: “We have tracked Joe for a long period of time, and have got many reports on him. We’ve seen him play in many various types of game, at training grounds and at the main stadium, and he always seems to be on the shoulder of the last defender, looking for that ball over the top to run in behind.

“He’s got good pace and we believe he’s a real threat who will always create chances for himself. He needs a little bit of work and time, but we believe we can develop him into a top striker here.”

Welcome to Kenilworth Road, Joe!
