The 30-year-old Londoner recently completed a century of appearances for the club before suffering a season-ending knee injury at Cardiff on Easter Monday.
James arrived on a free transfer from AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2017 and helped the Town to back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship, winning the Sky Bet League One golden glove award along with his title winner’s medal in 2018-19.
The former Arsenal youngster had made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season, keeping nine clean sheets as the Hatters launched a push for the Championship play-offs following his return to the team towards the end of 2021.
He now requires surgery and a lengthy period of rehabilitation, but knows he will have the full support of everyone at Kenilworth Road after putting pen to paper before today’s game.
We will catch up with James to get his thoughts in midweek, and manager Nathan Jones will speak about it post-match this afternoon.
