Saturday will be the fourth consecutive season in which the Club’s charity of the year will have benefitted from a dedicated matchday. Since 2015, charities CHUMS, Level Trust, and Transitions UK have all seen the team with their logos on the front of the team shirts, an initiative that helps raise awareness, and thousands of pounds in donations at the same time.
Volunteers from Luton Foodbank will be at the ground on Saturday, collecting cash donations – and a gazebo in front of the ground in Kenilworth Road will also be available to receive food donations.
Last week, Luton Town Chief Executive Gary Sweet welcomed Indigo Residential directors Sean Phelan, Brian Aitken and Scott Lynn to Kenilworth Road to present the newly branded shirts to Luton Foodbank representatives including Chris Nicholls, Paul Turvey, Salma Khan, and Thakor Morarji.
After the match on Saturday, the players’ match-worn shirts will be collected in, and put up for sale on eBay to help raise vital funds for the Foodbank.
“We’re very grateful to Sean, Brian and Scott for embracing this initiative, and giving up their sponsorship for Saturday’s match” said Foodbank senior team member Chris Nicholls.
“All of the money raised by the Club this season will go towards helping people living within our community who are in desperate need of short-term help from Luton Foodbank, so we’d like to thank everyone in advance for their donations and for taking part in the auction”, he added.
The Club will continue to support Luton Foodbank until June 2019, when the application process for the 2019-20 Club Charity of the Year will begin once more. There are many exciting plans in the pipeline to help raise additional funds, and awareness, so stay tuned and get involved!
