Nominated alongside Scalloway Hotel and Brewdog PLC, attendees on the night had to vote for who they believed deserved the award, with the Town winning and the award being presented by TV presenter Martin Lewis.
The criteria for the award was: ‘An award open to all employees at Living Wage Employers who can make the case for why their Living Wage Employer or Recognised Service Provider deserves to be recognised as an excellent place to work for all employees and sub-contracted staff. This award will be chosen on the night by attendees.’
Club officials Sascha Gustard-Brown and Chris Clark picked up the award on behalf of the Hatters, with Sascha saying: “It was a fantastic evening celebrating a brilliant scheme, and one as a club we are delighted to be involved in. As one of the handful of professional football clubs across the country to be an accredited employer, this award will hopefully encourage other clubs to get involved.
“The club’s strides on the pitch have been reflected off it, and this award echoes that. Thank you to the Living Wage and to everyone who voted for the club on the night.”
The club have proudly been an accredited employer since 2014, with the Hatters celebrating Living Wage Week with a ‘Living Wage Lunch’ in December last year.
