HAPPY THIRD ANNIVERSARY IN CHARGE, GAFFER!

Today marks the third anniversary of Nathan Jones’ tenure in charge of the Hatters – and what a three years it’s been!

Jones left his role as first-team coach at Brighton & Hove Albion to join the Town on 6th January 2016 and embark on his first managerial post. After his first game in charge a fortnight later, the club sat 18th in Sky Bet League Two following a goalless draw with Cambridge.

The former Brighton and Yeovil full-back steered his side to a fourth-place finish in his first full season, losing in the play-off semi-finals, before leading them to automatic promotion last term, finishing runners-up in the fourth tier.

Today they sit second in League One after a 13-game unbeaten run in which they have taken 33 points from a possible 39, winning ten and drawing three since their last defeat on October 13 at Barnsley, the fourth-placed side who drew 0-0 at Kenilworth Road on New Year’s Day – the first stalemate Jones’ side have had at home since his debut.

In total the 45-year-old has been in charge for 170 matches – winning 87, drawing 46 and losing 37. His team have scored 301 and conceded 174. Overall his win ratio is 51.2%.

In Football League matches, Jones has the best points per game ratio of any Hatters boss in history taking three points for a win as the basis – his 1.820 per game from 139 matches in charge bettering Allan Brown’s 1.737 from 95 games.

He has a win ratio of 51.1 per cent in Football League matches, which is also the best in the club’s history.

His league record reads: P139 W71 D40 L28 F238 A136 Pts 253 PPG 1.820

Included among his achievements are three successive FA Cup third round appearances, a Checkatrade Trophy semi-final and three Sky Bet League Two manager of the month awards.

Happy anniversary Nathan, the style of football and success you have brought to Kenilworth Road is second-to-none – here’s to many more!
