Town return to Kenilworth Road hoping to win for the third home match in a row and have the opportunity to put defeat away at Preston North End quickly behind them.
With more preparation time ahead of the game against Swansea, Jones was happy with the levels his team have shown in training, as he said: “You know what it’s like, its hard at work in-between games and it’s about recovery.
"We managed to work last Friday morning, so you’re playing Saturday against Wigan then you’re playing Tuesday, you can’t really do anything because it’s two days recovery minimum.
“You are using video footage and analysis but last Friday morning we managed to have a session which helped us towards being competitive at Preston and this week we’ve managed to have three working days, so I’m really pleased with it.”
Today’s game against the Swans marks the halfway point in the season and also the start of a busy Christmas period, which is something the 49-year-old is ready to face.
“I want to be optimistic about the Christmas period. If we look after ourselves, we’re good professionals and it’s a real opportunity to pick up points quickly. None of them are going to be easy, you have seen the league now and today is the last game to assess every single opponent.
“I know we’ve played some home and some away, but you know what style of play is coming after today’s game. The Christmas period is always a pivotal period anyway, but you know me, I’m thinking about Swansea not Fulham, we will move onto that after.”
Following the hectic December period comes the New Year and the January transfer window, which the former Swansea coach also spoke on: “It would be great to go out and spend £10 million on a player who is going to improve your team and that’s Football Manager, you play it on your computer – a lot of teams are playing that. We’re not.
“It makes the challenge even harder, but even more pleasurable to find a way, and that’s what we intend to do, we don’t want to use it as an excuse, but it doesn’t help when you’re playing against that kind of budget. We need to get on with being as competitive as we can for Luton Town.”
