Town made it consecutive home victories with the defeat of the Latics, with a disappointing loss to Brentford sandwiched in-between.
Jones said: “Well I’ve tried to keep it [training] the same, because we’ve got a job to do tomorrow night. But you see the spirits are different from a week ago, clearly different.
“That’s what football results bring. I have reflected on the last four games, I am on record as saying I don’t want to revisit that Brentford game again. But the other three games, the performances – we are talking about a performance on Saturday as well, the last six, seven minutes was the result of a performance. It’s been really satisfying.
“I really enjoyed Luke Berry’s performance. If you play Luke at the tip of the diamond or at the bottom, he’s still got that spatial awareness, he’s got that intelligence, he plays on the half turn, finds space, but more than anything, during that period he has been an outstanding professional.
“When his chance came through injury to Izzy, he was ready to take it. Long term, I think that’s such an important quality in any football club that you have got those type of boys, who come in and perform.
“In George’s case, I have never doubted his ability, but if you’re in this league, if you’re not switched on off the ball, we’ve all seen what an happen. That’s been the only question mark with George, because physically he’s fine, mentally he’s an absolute dream and technically, you’ve seen his natural talent. It’s just off the ball stuff that’s a work in progress.
“But you can get to work with him more, now that he’s playing in the team, international breaks have been quite significant for him because we have been able to work with him off the ball. There’s no under-23s or reserve team here, so it’s very, very difficult to put it into practice a lot of the time.
“But even within his role on Saturday, he came on the pitch, he had two different positions to play and he adapted really well. So it was satisfying, I am delighted for both boys, they’re two great boys and two great professionals.”
