FREEVIEW | Proud U18s coach Dan Walder after FA Youth Cup exit on penalties to West Ham

The Hatters U18s put up a tremendous fight in their FA Youth Cup third round tie against Category One academy West Ham United last night under the lights at Kenilworth Road, before exiting the competition in a penalty shoot-out defeat.

The Category 3 Hatters fought their way back from 2-0 down inside the opening 20 minutes to level at half-time with goals from Tyrelle Newton and Ben Stevens, making light of the two level difference in status between our academy and the Premier League visitors.

After some second-half heroics from goalkeeper Jameson Horlick, West Ham regained the lead in the opening stages of extra-time before Stevens struck again to make it 3-3 - with Tra Lucas almost winning it in the last minute of the extra half-an-hour, only for Hammers keeper Krisztian Hegyi to deny him.

The visiting stopper then saved two of the Town's well-taken penalties to send his team through to the fourth round, but lead coach Dan Walder could be proud of his side's efforts in a pulsating cup tie at the Kenny.
