As we go into the busy festive period of football matches when, traditionally, many families and friends will come together to enjoy the game, The FA, Premier League and EFL are calling on supporters to act responsibly when attending fixtures.

Following incidents at recent fixtures, fans are reminded to show their support in a positive way to ensure football matches are safe and enjoyable for all.Nobody should be at risk of harm at a football match. Tough measures and sanctions are in place across all English football leagues to tackle dangerous and illegal behaviours within football grounds, such as discriminatory behaviour, entering the pitch, using pyros and throwing objects. The very small number of individuals who engage in these acts are reminded that identification could lead to automatic club bans and police action. The FA, Premier League and EFL will continue to promote the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ campaign, working with clubs, police forces and all relevant authorities to keep matchday environments safe.Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “The Premier League is renowned for its incredible atmosphere, created by fans across all matches, and we know the vast majority of people attending fixtures show their support in a positive way.

“However, we have seen dangerous and offensive behaviour from a small minority of supporters, which puts the safety and wellbeing of others at risk. We are reminding fans to act responsibly and help ensure everyone is able to enjoy a fantastic Premier League matchday experience with friends and family.”
