The Hatters Under-18s’ continued their good recent form by thrashing Brentford 5-0 to make it three wins in a row and stay top of the Youth Alliance.

Alex Lawless’  side completely dominated at The Brache and the only surprise was that the Town only led by one at the break thanks to Tate Xaviers-Jones’ finish.

After the restart the young Hatters’ lead was doubled in a move that begun with goalkeeper Cai Hockey and finished with a header from Dylan Stitt.

Jamie Odegah then bulldozered his way through the Brentford defence to make it 3-0, keeping his composure after being fouled to finish well.

Three became four when Jack Lorentzen-Jones found the net with a measured strike from outside the box, finding the gap between a defender and goalkeeper’s bottom corner.

And the three points were then wrapped up by Zach Ioannides’ powerful shot after he had received Marcus Warren’s pass.

The victory ensures the Hatters remain top of the division with three games to play, the next of which takes place on Tuesday with a trip to Northampton.

Boss Lawless has been delighted with his team’s response to losing in the FA Youth Cup to Swindon in December.

“Since the winter break I have been really pleased,” he said. “Disappointments like this can sometimes affect players and teams in the wrong way, so to bounce back and win three games in a row really gives the lads confidence going into the final matches of the regular season before the merit league begins.”

Town: Hockey, Harvey, Scott, Martins, Emery, Kayibanda, Stitt, Lorentzen-Jones, Houghton, Trustram, Xavier-Jones.

Subs: Warren, Thomas, Ioannides, Odegah, Routh.
