EMIRATES FA CUP MATCH PREVIEW | LUTON TOWN V SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

The Hatters welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Kenilworth Road tonight for an Emirates FA Cup third round replay that will see the winner head to current holders, Chelsea.

Town went up to Hillsborough last week and drew 0-0, having beaten Wycombe Wanderers and Bury in the previous rounds.

After Saturday's 1-1 draw at Sunderland, the Hatters now find themselves on a 17-game unbeaten run, having not been defeated since mid-October.

The unbeaten run at Kenilworth Road is just six weeks off reaching a full year, with a defeat against Accrington at the beginning of March the last time Town tasted defeat on home turf in League and FA Cup matches.

The Owls went into the competition at this stage, so going off their league form, they currently sit 16th in the Championship with 32 points from 27 games. Their last victory came on Boxing Day, when they picked up a brilliant 1-0 win at Middlesbrough.

Don't forget, contactless card payment will be available around the ground, with some food kiosks offering card only tills to help speed up service, so please utilise these where possible!

Tonight's game will not be available to live stream for international subscribers.

MICK HARFORD SAYS:

On who will play up front with Danny Hylton suspended: "We've got one or two options, we have a big squad. We knew we would have to rely on our squad throughout the season as you do. And we're going to have to utilise the squad tomorrow, absolutely."

On the size of the game: "At the moment every game is a big game, it's a big month for us and we've stressed that to the players. We've given ourselves a great opportunity by going up to Sheffield Wednesday and performing to a good level against what I believe is a good team, as I actually watched them when they drew one each with West Brom, I thought they were excellent on the afternoon and probably deserved to win the game. So to go there and get a draw, it's a magnificent opportunity. There's a carrot at the end of it, a TV game against one of the top teams in Europe. It's all there to play for.

"I know 100 percent what will happen; the fans will turn out again as usual and get behind the team and give them a big push, in the way they always do. The fans, you just look at them on Saturday and they were amazing. Kenilworth Road under the lights, I have played a few games and it's a daunting experience sometimes when the team is doing well down there. We will look to put them under pressure and hopefully win the cup tie."

WHO?

A club with such a rich history, they have had a lot of success in this competition, having won the FA Cup on three occasions, the most recent of those was in 1935, whilst they were runners up in 1966 and 1993. That game saw them take Arsenal to a replay after drawing 1-1 at Wembley, with Trevor Francis' team – which including a number of Wednesday greats; Mark Bright, John Sheridan and Roland Nilsson – falling a to a 2-1 defeat second time round. They also frustrating lost the League Cup final by the same score-line to the Gunners the month before.

They nearly made a Premier League return both in the 2015/16 campaign and the following year, missing out both times as they were defeated in the play-offs. They spent eight consecutive seasons in the top tier, before suffering relegation in 2000. Their slump continued and they have had spells in League One.
