Carlton on the Wednesday win!

Town captain on his two-goal turnaround to sink Owls

Carlton Morris praised the impact of his fellow game changers and the Kenilworth Road crowd in helping the Hatters come from behind to beat Sheffield Wednesday.

The 28-year-old scored twice, the first from the penalty spot in the 76th minute and the second from close range with 88 on the clock, to secure a second successive win for the Town.

“It was incredible,” said our number nine afterwards. “The energy we got from the fans, we really lived on that and it got us over the line today.”

Introduced along with debutant Tom Krauß and Zack Nelson on the hour, before Victor Moses came on for his first appearance in a Luton shirt with Joe Taylor in the 83rd minute, Morris had the ultimate impact.

“I always feel like I’m going to impact the game in some way, whether that happens or whether it doesn’t, I’m confident in my ability,” he said. “I know what I’m capable of and I know I have the ability to do that, but ultimately nothing like that can happen without the boys and the energy they brought from the start of the game.

“The game has opened up by the time I came on. We created more chances, we looked more of a threat and we’ve come away with the win whilst not being at our best.”

He added: “It’s a huge credit to the football club, Victor Moses and Tom Krauß coming in with Mark McGuinness – new players, and they hit the ground running. They have come in to this game and making the impact that they did, it’s incredible really.”

And on the influence of the home crowd, he said: “These are my favourite games, when we get the fans going, getting behind us. It just feels like it’s inevitable that another goal is coming and thankfully it did.”
