The Tottenham Hotspur loanee made his debut for the club after coming on from the bench in the 73rd minute and believes there is plenty of quality in the Town ranks.
“I spoke to the manager before I came in and he said that he thought we would stay up with this team and he wanted me to come and help with that.
“As soon as I came back from Stoke I wanted to get back out. For me I just want to keep playing football and keep being involved.”
Although he only joined up with the rest of the team on Thursday, Carter-Vickers wholeheartedly believes that the group have the requirements to stay in the Championship this season.
“I only trained Thursday and Friday but in that time I believe that there is quality in this squad and I think that as long as we keep working hard and keep trying to do things right, I believe that we can have a good, strong finish before the end of the season.
“I think that if you play West Brom it’s always going to be a tough game,” the defender continued. “But, I thought for large parts we were in the game. I know it sounds silly because we lost 2-0 in the end but I think for large parts we were in it and with a bit more quality, which I believe that the squad has, I think we maybe could have got a draw.”
Opportunities did present themselves to the Hatters throughout the 90 minutes and those are the chances Carter-Vickers knows they need to score.
“They’re the chances we need to take. When you’re down at the bottom you need those things to go for you to turn the momentum and start picking up results.”
After getting on the pitch for the first time since the end of November, the USA international wants to continue contributing, saying: “I want to play as many games as I can and help the team as much as I can.
“Like I was saying before, I believe that with the squad that we have here, we could have a strong finish to the season and that’s something I want to be a part of and help out.”
With two home games against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday next up, the defender is under no illusions as to what the players need to do.
“We’ve got to make our home a fortress and try and pick up as many points as we can, I think that will be key for us.”
