BIG MICK BUYS A VIRTUAL SEASON TICKET!

Hatters legend Mick Harford is the latest former player to pledge to buy a Virtual Season Ticket, following the wonderful gesture made by Conference-winning striker Paul Benson soon after 2020-21 season tickets went on sale last week.

Big Mick, a hero already to all Luton Town supporters for his unbelievable contribution to the club as player, coach, manager and chief recruitment officer, has selflessly dipped into his own pocket to help the club through a difficult time with the coronavirus pandemic seriously affecting cashflow with no matchday revenue.

Mick said: “It’s a tough time for everyone at the moment, businesses as well as individuals – and football clubs come into that bracket.

“I’ve seen how tirelessly people are working at the club this week to try to keep things moving and protect livelihoods, which could be affected by the lack of matchday income.

“This club has given me so many brilliant memories and I just felt it right that I contribute in some way, and buying a virtual season ticket is perfect.

“The irony is that I’m not even at Kenilworth Road on a matchday very often as I’m out watching the opposition or players. But everyone knows I’m there in spirit with our brilliant supporters, and this just helps add to that!”

On the current situation affecting the nation, Mick added: “I want to reiterate all the messages you hear out there at the moment, about staying at home, keeping your distance to two metres when you do go out to exercise once a day, and to keep washing your hands.

“It’s so important because we need to protect the elderly and vulnerable. This virus is affecting everyone – the Royals, the Prime Minister, footballers and supporters – no one is immune to it.

“The NHS staff and volunteers are doing a fantastic job and we thank them so much for it, but please do your bit to help them and look after each other, too.”

It’s not just former players, but supporters too who are not only buying season tickets but also making similarly generous donations on top when they speak to the Ticket Office staff.

On Wednesday we told how one family of four donated almost £1,000 on top of buying their Diamond packages for 2020-21.

We would like to thank every single person who has made a donation or purchase of some description this week, however big or small, at such a difficult time for all.

They are all appreciated in equal measure. You really are amazing, Hatters.

Please listen to Big Mick and keep well!
